Bequest Services

Estate Planning involves making decisions now so that your loved ones are protected after you die.  Your Will is generally the cornerstone of your estate plan.  This document outlines your wishes about how your assets are distributed, and designates individuals who make sure your wishes are carried out.  One of the easiest ways to make a gift to the Masonic Home residents is through your Will.

Will Preparation Service

A startling seven out of ten Americans die without a Will, causing unnecessary financial and emotional strain for already grieving loved ones.  To prevent these avoidable hardships, the Masonic Charity Foundation sponsors a Will Preparation Service.  Our attorneys prepare your Will at no charge, provided a bequest (gift) is made to the Masonic Home residents.  The amount of the bequest is entirely up to you.  Because of the deep caring relationship existing among Masons, our service is especially personal.  To take advantage of our service, please contact us.

Executor Service

An executor is the person you name as your representative when your Will is being probated.  The executor carries out your Will's provisions, settles your estate, and handles any unforeseen circumstances that may arise.  Depending on your estate's complexity, there may be a substantial number of legal documents and tax returns that must be filed.  The Masonic Charity Foundation has years of experience with the legal and accounting matters involved with settling estates.  Because of this experience, you may wish to consider naming our Corporate Treasurer as your executor.  An executor's fee generally varies from 4 to 7 percent of an estate's value.  However, no fee is charged for this service if the Foundation's Treasurer acts as your executor.

Will Review Service

The Foundation's attorneys are always available to consult with you about your Will and estate plan.  If you have a Will but are unsure that it meets current legal requirements, our staff can review it at no charge.  If your Will was written more than five years ago, or if significant changes have taken place in your personal affairs, it would be wise to have it reviewed.
