Ways to Give to the Masonic Charity Foundation

The Masonic Charity Foundation of New Jersey was established in 1937 as a not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States tax code.  Ever since, we have received charitable gifts from our donors to benefit the residents of our Masonic Home.  These gifts have allowed us to provide many of the additional amenities that make our community so exceptional.

The Foundation prides itself on practicing the very highest standards of fund development and fiscal stewardship.  We value the generosity and partnerships of our individual donors and corporate sponsors.  Whether gifts are for general operating support – or for a specific purpose – the generosity of our donors continues to make a real difference in the lives of our residents.

If you would like to help support the residents of the Masonic Home of New Jersey, please contact:

Giving to the Masonic Charity Foundation - How to Donate:

All donations to the Masonic Charity Foundation are very much appreciated.  In fact, we would not be able to run our Masonic Home without your generous support.

We have put together a number of giving programs designed to meet our donor’s varied interests.  Donations can be made by cash, credit card or check; they can consist of almost any type of asset (stocks, bonds, life insurance proceeds, even real estate); and, donations can be planned for the future through an estate plan.

1. Annual Giving

Grand Master’s Appeal:  This direct mail solicitation is sent each year to New Jersey Masons, Masonic widows, and friends.  Donations may be made in cash, check, by credit card or by direct debit from a checking/savings account.  Donors making gifts of $100 or more will become members of one of our giving clubs.  Click this link to make an annual gift.

Honorarium/Memorial Giving Program: Gifts may be made in honor/memory of a loved one.  Rest assured that we notify the honored/memorialized individual/family of the donor’s kindness.  Click this link to make an honorary/memorial gift.

Sustaining Donor Program: Donors can elect to have the convenience of a recurring charge or direct debit made from their checking/savings account.

2. Corporate Giving

Corporate Sponsorship:  Corporate support can be made for general operating needs, or for a specific purpose.  Many tax planning opportunities exist to encourage gifts from closely-held businesses.

Corporate Matching Gifts:  Many large corporations will match charitable gifts made by their employees.  Check with your company’s personnel office.

3. Major Giving

Vehicle Donation Program: By dialing 1 (888) 71-MASON, donors may make arrangements to donate their vehicles to the Foundation.  It’s fast, easy, and hassle free.  Click this link for more information about vehicle donations.

Capital Items: Larger gifts (usually of $3,000 or more) may be made to designate a donor item within the Masonic Home in honor/memory of an organization/individual.  Here is a sample of such items:

    • A gift of $3,000 – medical center room
    • A gift of $7,500 – medical center bistro kitchen
    • A gift of $10,000 – medical center resident lobby

A brass plaque mounted near the donated item recognizes the donor.  Please contact us for a full list of the currently available items.

4. Planned Giving

Charitable Gift Annuity Program:  Through this program, donors irrevocably transfer funds of $5,000 or more to the Masonic Charity Foundation.  In return, the Foundation pays them lifetime income at a rate based on their age.  At the end of the term, all remaining funds are used to care for the Masonic Home residents.  For this reason, several tax benefits are generated.  Contact us for the current rates for single-life and double-life annuities.

Charitable Remainder Trust Program: Through this program, donors irrevocably transfer a significant amount of funds (usually $75,000 or more) to the Foundation.  In return, the Foundation pays them lifetime income at either a fixed or variable rate.  Such trusts are an important tax planning tool that may be incorporated into sizeable estate plans.

Estate Planning Service:  Simply by remembering the Masonic Charity Foundation in their Wills, donors can do much to benefit the residents.  Through the Foundation’s Estate Planning Service, a number of estate planning resources are available to donors.  Click this link for more detailed information about how to include philanthropic giving in your estate and financial plans.

For more information and details about any of the Masonic Charity Foundation’s charitable giving programs, please contact Foundation staff today.  We are looking forward to answering your questions and assisting you with your philanthropic giving.
